We are thrilled to welcome another graduate student to our group! Albert officially joined in December 2022. He will be working with the cryopreservation team to investigate the interactions of cryoprotectants with live cells using advanced microscopy techniques. We are ecstatic to have him as part of the team!
Heidi travelled back to her alma mater, SUNY Potsdam, to present her work to the chemistry department. She gave a talk titled “Investigating the Localization of Cryoprotectants in Plant Shoot Tips using Coherent Raman Microscopy” to current students. We’re so glad she was able to share her work with her alma mater!
Kylie passed her literature seminar with flying colors, bringing her one step closer to her PhD! She presented on the various types of fluorescence microscopy used to identify plant stress. Kylie focused on fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy, a technique she herself hopes to use in her own research. Now that she’s cleared this hurdle, she …
Chris presented his work to the chemistry department in a seminar titled “Shape and the Dynamics of Self-Assembled Structures: The Tale of a Reverse Micelle.” His talk encompassed a large portion of the work he’s completed so far and brings him one step closer to his degree. We are incredibly proud of the work Chris …
Nancy was invited to speak at the 2nd International Symposium on Confinement-Controlled Chemistry 2022 at Ruhr University, Bochum. She presented a talk titled “Visualizing Cryoprotectant Permeation and Location Confined in Plant Cells and Tissues,” which included both Fionna’s and Heidi’s work.
We are thrilled to report that Yayo successfully passed his candidacy exam and is now considered a PhD Candidate! He is well on the way to receiving his PhD. Now, Yayo will focus on collecting more data and publishing literature on the work he has done so far. His next big hurdle will be presenting …
Chris and Nancy travelled to the Water and Aqueous Solutions Gordon Research Conference this summer to present posters. It was a success; thank you both for sharing our work!
Chris’s submission to the Water and Aqueous Solutions Gordon Research Conference was selected for a research seminar! He presented a talk titled “Impact of Shape on Nanoconfined Water.” Congrats Chris, we’re so glad you got to share your work with a large audience!
Heidi travelled to Dublin this summer to present her talk “A multi-modal analysis of Mentha x piperita shoot tip response to cryoprotective agents” at the Cryobiology conference CRYO2022. She did a great job! Thanks for sharing our work with the community!
Fionna gave a virtual talk at the Cryobiology conference, CRYO2022, titled “Visualizing PVS2 component permeation into Oryza sativa callus cells by coherent Raman scattering microscopy.” She did not travel to Dublin with Heidi because she was in New York writing for Scientific American.
